Liverpool return to Champions League action on Wednesday night following three points on the weekend in the league.
Arne Slot‘s side remain at the top of the Premier League table with a one-point gap over Manchester City.
And it has been a perfect start in the Champions League for Liverpool with two wins from their opening two games.
The Reds will be making the trip to Germany where they will be coming up against RB Leipzig on Wednesday night.
But it seems as if there will also be a focus elsewhere in the elite European competition from some at the club with scouts sent elsewhere to watch one specific player in action.

Liverpool scouts in Portugal to watch Champions League midfielder
The Reds certainly had their issues over the summer when it came to adding a new midfielder to Slot’s squad.
Liverpool were rejected by Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and they then decided not to rush into adding any further midfielders.
There could be movement the other way in January with Wataru Endo a potential departure from Liverpool in the winter market.

According to Record, Liverpool have scouts in Lisbon on Wednesday to watch Benfica midfielder Orkun Kokcu in action against Feyenoord.
It is claimed Liverpool were also in attendance to watch the 23-year-old midfielder against Atletico Madrid where he scored from the penalty spot.
Ironically, Kokcu will be coming up against his former side on Wednesday after leaving the Eredivisie side last summer.
It has also been suggested that the Liverpool scouts will have an eye on Alvaro Carreras who has interest from Manchester United.
Liverpool could add real midfield threat with Orkun Kokcu
Having already been hailed as the ‘perfect‘ midfielder, Kokcu has made a stunning start to the 2024/25 campaign.
The 23-year-old has fully established himself in the Benfica side with four goals and three assists across his nine appearances in the league and Champions League this season.
And Kokcu is operating at a level which not many midfielders across Europe’s top five leagues can currently match.
2024/25 | Per 90 | Percentile |

Assists | 0.52 | 99 |
Shot-creating actions | 4.69 | 97 |

Having netted in his opening two Champions League games this season, Liverpool’s scouts could be in for a real treat on Wednesday night in Lisbon.
