Guglielmo Vicario has been a big talking point of Tottenham Hotspur’s season so far with his performances facing a fair amount of scrutiny.
Question marks have arisen as to whether Spurs should look to replace Vicario with his inability to command his area proving to be an issue for the team.
However, these suggestions seem somewhat harsh given that the Italian’ remains an incredible shot-stopper and Luciano Spalletti rating the 28-year-old highly enough to hand him his competitive Italy debut against Israel.
Vicario’s displays in the Premier League have also earned him interest from major clubs in his home country and Tottenham have made their feelings clear about letting him go.

Inter Milan interested in Vicario and will Tottenham sell him?
Tottenham are only willing to sell Vicario if a ‘mind-blowing’ offer for the goalkeeper arrives, according to Calcio Mercato.
Inter Milan have shown an interest in bringing Vicario back to Serie A, however, the 28-year-old is only thinking about Tottenham and the national team.
Over the summer, the Italian goalkeeper was changed from being the club’s number 13 to being given the one jersey for the North London outfit.
This switch in itself was a show of faith from Ange Postecoglou and Spurs in the former Empoli man and how they view his future in N17. So for now, Vicario very much remains a key part of the Lilywhites’ plans.
What do Guglielmo Vicario’s stats look like?
Vicario has done pretty well this season considering he plays for a team that has such a strong emphasis on attacking and their weaknesses in defence.
Stat | Total |
Apperances | 7 |
Goals conceded per match | 1.1 |
Saves per game | 2.1 (65%) |
Goals conceded | 8 |
Saves made | 15 |
Goals prevented | 1.05 |
Saves caught | 0 |
Saves parried | 7 |
Tottenham’s underlying defensive numbers are still strong though as they have faced the second-lowest number of shots in the league and have a better xGA than Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United.
If Postecoglou’s defence and Vicario can eliminate silly mistakes from their game, they might see a serious improvement in results.
